"Resistance", Elizabeth Fen Chen

after Psalm 139

Where can I go from your spirit?
Or where can I flee from your presence?
When I go down to ICU, you are there.
Even in general ward, you surround me.

Even if I were to practice social distancing,
Even if I stood one metre apart on the MRT,
In my isolation your memes will still find me,
Your viral memes will consume my newsfeed.

Who is like you, novel coronavirus 2019?
Hundreds have been widowed by you,
Thousands have died by your hand.
The world will never be the same again, and yet

We will not surrender, and yet
We will continue to sanitise our hands,
And yet we will share toilet paper,
And yet, and yet, and yet.
